yes, the block should be partial VIN stamped "same as 440HP".

the entire 1968 model year's b-body 383 4bbl, 383HP, 440HP, HEMI & their associated transmissions SHOULD be partial VIN stamped with last 8-digits (YEAR * PLANT * SERIAL NUMBER).

/6, 318, 383 2bbl & their associated transmissions will NOT be VIN stamped.

the HEMI will also have engine assembly data "MN426" stamped on the bottom of the starter flange.
