Here is something to get you going in the right direction.

The VIN tag look incorrect. I'd guess it was laser engraved sometime after Barney aired on TV. Other '67 tags lok like that?

That said the LA (IIRC) cars I have/had did not always use rivets on the VIN tag. Some of them seem to be adhered in place with open holes where the rivets would go. Perhaps it was lost and they remade it for that purpose.
