depending upon the application, over the years i have fabbed spacers from aluminum or stainless in varying thicknesses and shapes. a trick to keeping the spacers and shock together while inserting the bolts is to use common sewing thread to tie the spacers to the bearing end[s]. thread is strong and very thin, plus it will usually "disapear" after installation. keeps you from having to grow a third arm and hand. i know it sounds kinda lame, but works for this and other applications your mind can come up with.
