Rear Coilover Shock gap

Rear Coilover Shock gap - 11/04/16 12:25 AM

So I finished installing the ladder bars and rear shock brackets and went to install the coilovers. The top bolt went in fine but when I went to install the bottom bolt through te coilover there's way too much gap between the coilover and the 2 brackets.
What are you using to fill in the gap?
I don't think you're supposed to use a hardware store washer or 3?
I think there's a specific spacer to put in between the bracket and shock.

.625" x .058" 4130 tubing (for 1/2" bolts) cut to size, or wide heim in the bottom of the shock or store bought bushings sold by most chassis supply places.

depending upon the application, over the years i have fabbed spacers from aluminum or stainless in varying thicknesses and shapes. a trick to keeping the spacers and shock together while inserting the bolts is to use common sewing thread to tie the spacers to the bearing end[s]. thread is strong and very thin, plus it will usually "disapear" after installation. keeps you from having to grow a third arm and hand. i know it sounds kinda lame, but works for this and other applications your mind can come up with.
