The faceplate issue would be cosmetic and might not be covered under the circumstances you bought it under...The SOLENOID {hope I got that right } is another issue and should be covered under the warranty considering it's a new unit...

That being said I don't think even the "scratch and dent sale" would be an issue considering Eastwoods great customer service... I'd go after the mechanical problem with them and see what their solution would be if they offer up a new unit so be it..If they want to send the part at least you'll have a working unit...

I was'nt trying to be a smart---in my initial post we ran into the exact same issue on the one we used for a project and as stated eastwood is more than willing to make their unit work for you...
