No epoxy, yet. It does look like really old technology. The workmanship is really good so I suppose it was state of the art for whatever decade it was. They're going onto my son's 360 in his 2500lb Datsun but they look like they'd be happier with some more cubes to feed. I'm glad his car is light anyway.
