Distributer timing is about as accurate as the valve adjustment chart. :eye The flying magnet style of ignition(crank trigger) has been around for ages on small engines like lawn mowers,etc.This is the most positive way for accurate timing since it set mechanically at a fixed spot on the crank and all the slop areas mentioned have no effect.It is firing at the preset degrees with the crank rotation and can only change if you physically move the pickup.
