thx for the responses guys this is actually a MP 500 shortblock assembled at cummings when the where building MP crate engines.PN#5007665.forged crank and eagle h-beams but hyperutetic pistons.i was thinking if i could get a good deal on it i would replace the pistons with some nice forged units.just didnt want to buy it and find out the block wont go any bigger.sonic checking is probably out of the question until i purchase it and dissassemble.just wanted a heads up on any potential BS i might encounter.

If it's an assembled shortblock it was already sonic checked and it would have a sticker on the rear bellhousing flange stating the size it can go to if less than 4.500.

As far as the condition of it , don't stop at just changing the pistons , check EVERYTHING. Cummins was the LOW BIDDER and mopar got EXACTLY what they paid for ...

Arrow use to do them and they put out some junk..
they did the crate hemi also and put out junk

Raff, you are the first person I have heard say that , everything I read in the mags said differently , were the mag writers getting free hemis to say good things?
