I did this with mine and it works great. However I need to somehow wire my relay to key on power otherwise it drains the battery if I leave the kill switch on.
Correct. On a race car where you come back to the pits and throw the switch off, wiring as shown above is fine.
You throw the switch on a car with a ford relay and alt line CD relay, nothing is hot outside a 2 foot or so cube in most cases.
Wiring does get a little busy, but, my car isn't burning to the ground because an alt line is hot all the time. Seen it happen, no thanks.
