I think my pump is pre-set at 26+ lbs. iirc then it bypasses directly back to the cell and the regulator is the final setting for the carb. Makes sense to me compared to the old pumps not needing a regulator or the blue/black pumps that were preset way below the modern pumps capabilities so, the pressure AND volume are there and are easily controlled and don`t work as hard...................
