What alt do you have? All the mopar alts have 2 field wires that I know of. Ones energized with 12 positive and the other goes to the reg which gets grounded through the reg. It doesnt matter witch post gets energized at the Alt. But the one thats not is the field that goes to the Reg.
But on the regulator, different story. The Top post is the 12 volt feed and the bottom side is the field wire coming from the alt side of the two fields thats not energized by 12 volts.
The alt needs a 12 volt feed as does the reg. The Reg Has to have a good ground to work.
If you have a Mopar Alt it should have three posts Two Field and one Bat.
So your saying you have One field and One Bat. Only two post connections on the Alt?
