Yep, you really use rings on hogs, precisely to keep them from destroying the turf & keep them from rooting up the bottom of fences. Some hogs needed a whole snoutfull to stop 'em, some were never deterred no matter how many rings you put in 'em, & some were quite adept at pulling the rings out. You don't know what fun is until you have to snare & hold a screaming, wiggling hog while someone clamps the rings in, or vice-versa. And if it's young pigs with sows nearby you take your life in your hands, a sow is every bit as protective of any screaming pig as a mother bear (also called sow) is of it's cubs.
