Do you really use hog rings on hogs?

I'm a city boy so I don't know firsthand, but my understanding is that hog rings are clamped into pig's noses to keep them from rooting around in the garden at farms.
The first set of seats I did I used the set on the right in my picture, and it was no fun. A couple years back I bought another set of seat covers from Legendary and decided I'd treat myself to a new set of hog ring pliers for installing this set. I found one on ebay for around $20 complete with some hog rings. Spring loaded, padded handles, worked great! Even made in the USA. Mine were made by Republic Fastener Products Corporation.
