1970 NP833 had ball and detent side covers, 1971 was the first year for the GM style side covers I believe. I had a J code 1970 Challenger T/A 4 speed CA car, I can't remember now if the shift handle bolted on or slid in I'm almost Positive that all the 1970 and 71 E body short pistol grip shifters I've seen had the bolt on handles, maybe not What say you Scott Smith Harms
