Clockspring in the steering wheel may need to be replaced. They do wear out in time.

Also, if you are in the habit of always tilting the wheel up/down everytime you get in and out of the truck, some of the electrical wires in the column can break. Especially true if you live in a winter climate. Those wires are very fine and it doesn't take much to break them, it's happened to me. So, have a look inside the column to make sure everything is good.

Clockspring though is a more common cause for intermittent cruise control problems.
