I suppose if you were running a 4 cylinder in a D350 yeah it'd be a problem. But one wonders if you have actually ever driven one.

I suggest you look at the ratios of three speed manuals of the same era and compare them to the A833OD, pretty close or "worse" and no one cries about huge ratio drops there.
