I like your idea, but I've found it's easy to crack Plexiglas or Lexan when cutting/drilling... since my last post I was thinking of doing something similar using the original cluster with the center cut out, and a piece 3/32" or 1/8" aluminum plate... trial layout with cardboard template:



I like 2-5/8" gauges for readability especially at high speed, but I never realized how small the usable portion of the cluster is when adding gauges! I'll use a column- or dash-mounted tach instead... got a Sun Super Tach in the junk box...
