Im sure since you alreay have a hood you could trim it to your required weight and spend any excess cash elsewhere

Some of u are bad azz fab guys and again not my gig but some great ideas and the lexan deal could work w/the right tools which I don`t have so fiberglass it is. Ya, I could probably lighten mine but last time I did that I ruined a perfectly good hood so I`ll take the 10-15 lb. ligher mold on and run with it.

If your buddy is not charging you too much for a hood then ask him to cast another one a tad lighter and advertise the first to recoup some costs, Im sure it wouldnt be hard to sell on here... call it r&d
