My original '70 4 speed console top plate has a flat spot in the chrome surround from the pistol grip banging against it. I was trying to figure out a good way to fix this to re-intrduce the correct shape in this area. Can top plates be welded? I was thinking of going that route and reshaping this area. Any ideas?
