I would like to hear from those that have used 904's in some high hp applications. I also know it would be better to use a 727 so I don't need that info. Just wanting to know what it takes to make one live for a while. Will be behind 800hp small block, 3000lbs. Thanks in advance.

A better question is how much torque will a 904 hold? Torque is what pushes parts to their limit, not hp. a 500 hp low rpm diesel would shredd a 904 in seconds. A 600 hp 340 cube small block in front of it, and it will live a very long life. A loose converter also helps, because the trans no longer gets hit with the harsh shifts of a stock converter that will bark the tires at 50 mph. My uneducated guess is about 500 ft lbs is a good range to stay at or below. Maybe one of the trans experts will chime in with some more input.
