Yes, the mag pan will work in a truck---i have a 5.9 mag long block in my '85 truck---plenty of room for the pan.
As far as the gasket goes, i used a LA style gasket with a LA pan in my car and the mag gasket with the mag pan in the truck--its what works for me--others have had sucess either way.
