It seems like a 383 would be perfect for you,if you are happy with the 383's performance. Sure a 440 or a 440 stroker will have more power, but the larger displacement will use more fuel. If you like the 383, keep it!

If you aren't going to abuse it, race it, or otherwise damage it, keeping the numbers matching engine in the car makes sense.
