I did find a few barely legible strings that I didn't mention because I wasn't sure that I wasn't just seeing patterns in the rust.

Let me make sure I'm on the same page. The S190*** number would be a combination mfg number/date code. The "S190" would be the component ID for the wheel type @ the mfg? Makes sense if I'm understanding you right.

Then that would leave the other date code as having been stamped @ assy line's tire hole? That could explain why that one is oriented differently on every wheel. A matter of convenience.
