Yes it was and I still have a couple of them with different centerlines sitting on the shelf.



My old motor had the R280 in it but was a bit of a dog because it lacked comp and converter.
What RPM did you turn.
I've got a rusty 286 I use to prop my garage door open. i bet yours sounded pretty good, certainly a good running combo.

Pretty sure I shifted at 6800 but as you know that was a long time ago and it did sound real good. If my 572 in the daytona starts breaking valve train parts with the 830 lift cam and the CRAZY spring pressures we use now I'm going to be using one of those old school cams again.

I'm a hoarder as I still probably have about 2-3 sets of those old TRW pistons in the garage attic.
