With the convertor pushed all the way in to the pump, you should have at least 1/4" clearance between the convertor lugs and the flexplate. You should have to pull the convertor back out to make contact with the vlexplate. If no clearance there, you have a problem somewhere. Start by making sure the convertor is fulley seated in to the pump notches. Still no clearance, it's gotta come apart, cause there is a part mismatch somewhere.
