"Long story short" means I'm not going into the history of why this block was re-honed w/o the plate. If it wasn't done then, it's not going to happen now that I'm already reassembling the bottom end.

The "new build in progress" 451 on the engine stand a few feet from the 452 has been "done right" in that respect and will be the long-term replacement.

I'm simply looking for a way to minimize the bore distortion issue as I put the 452 back together as the interim solution to get the Challenger running again.
