The TP linkage and the shift linkage have nothing to do with each other.

First, the aftermarket carb needs a special throttle lever adapter (#20-7 for a Holley and #1481 for a Carter/Edelbrock) even if the linkage is correct. This adapter sets up the correct leverage ratio.

The TP lever doesn't need to be full back at WOT, just near full back.
