hyd or roller?

What is your budget? I guess you know that there are 4 types of commonly available cams? Solid flat, Solid roller, Hydraulic flat and Hydraulic roller..... I was ready to run a hydraulic roller until I checked priced... W O W !!! Its around $1000 for the cam, special lifters, the pushrods, the bronze distributor drive.... Too much for me. I went flat tappet and use better oil.
My 493 currently has the old dinosaur Mopar performance 292/509 hydraylic. It runs okay but I liked the Comp XE 285HL better. I wiped out 2 Comp Cams and decided to skip using them until they improved their manufacturing. It seems that they got the message, since they now offer an improved surface hardening option. I may go back. That Comp cam idled better and made more power.
