No sense running a fan full time when you don't need to. Like any other electric motor, running an electric fan full time will mean it's going to burn out quicker, not to mention the extra load on your alternator, which will shorten it's life also.



plus, the benefit of an electric fan is that it's on when you need it and off when you don't. if you wire it up to run full time, then you might as well get rid of the electric and put on a mechanical fan.
