Yeah, these are a nicopress type. They are probably the best design for actual use in preventing your hood from coming up.

Ummm...I would have thought this was obvious, but the function of the cable is to retain the clip to the car. The clip and the pin perform the function of "preventing your hood from coming up". (assuming the hood latch and the brain hook fail)
