...IMHO paint the car/jambs/engine compartment with the same type of paint you intend on painting the car with,....seen too many cars painted the way your painter intends to paint it,....looks like poo, you will see the difference,....your painter sounds lazy, or just cutting corners on paint mat'l ($$$$)....sorry but after painting cars/bikes/boats/trucks/etc for over 30 years I just hate hearing about these half ar$e "paint preparations"
