I never understood the 383 designation, is it because it's designed around a smallish bore/intake valve?
If 4.25" is considered small....but since BB Wedge valves don't open on the bore centerline....

Pretty sure they have smaller valves than the 4.50" bore 572-13's.
Did there also used to be a another version of the 572-13 ?, it had a smaller intake runner volume (365cc v's 390cc ?? ) and could be used on a smaller bore

Here are some pictures of my old ones. The nitrous was some of Monte Smith's fine work when he worked at applies Nitrous Technology.

Here is the Indy sales brochure.

It says stock valve location but I thought they required a custom piston?

Do you recall any flow numbers?

IIRC the valve centerline is moved to the bore center. Look closely at the head pics posted. They have a 1/2" wide ledge right below the bottom row of head studs. The 440-1 does not have this. Thats roughly the amount the valves are moved. Even if it's not the 13 degree valve angle would require custom pistons. Stock is 15 degree.

Maybe if you have pistons that are cut for significantly larger valves than 2.19/1.81 you could get away without custom pistons, but I'd think the steeper valve angle would be problematic otherwise.

So got a chance to go look at the heads, they deffinately are Very ported, and they are a water version which I’m glad of.
Indy aluminum block, custom pistons with aluminum rods, has a fogger setup, engine is complete in parts minus the crank, so looking forward to making a project out of this thing!
540 aluminum low deck coming soon

Picked all this stuff up, deciding on keeping it a nitrous motor or doing a NA tunnel ram deal, but here’s a few pics
This was originally built for the KOS series in a cuda, not sure who owned it
NC. on the valve cover, KOS Cuda, Bowman's black Cuda possibly?

There is and I haven’t had a chance to get lift/duration numbers but there’s some on the cam I’ll post when I get home

Nope. Looks like the engine from Parker's lime green '71 cuda. He sold the car a while back and the engine was in it...guess it was parted out.

Stan Staley is still in business building engines as far as I know. Last time I saw him he was running a white '68-'72 body style Nova w/ a BB nitrous combo.
The Parker brothers have a body shop somewhere in the Rock Hill, SC, area.
