The Parker Brothers are selling their old King of the Street cuda.

Still looks nice! Always wondered what happened to this car. I never even knew they were from SC.

I'm not sure how fast it went, but I think I remember it going some 9.0s on nitrous in KOS trim. Saw it run several times. Nice car.
I'm sure it's been faster than 9.0s though...that was 15 years ago when I saw it run last.

I love the color! I wonder how that Dana would hold up to real KOS power levels?

Wish they had painted the trunk and made it as pretty as the engine bay.

What is a "Brodix" motor? B1 heads on a KB or other alum block?

As with many early KOS cars, there is not much chassis there. Looks to be mini-tubbed maybe with an 8 point cage and that's about it. Doors are not X braced and no supports to rear shock mounts and unless they are underneath, no snout bars are visible. No mention of rear suspension. Wonder if it is leafs or ladder bar?

All Aluminum Brodix motor? It appears in that pic to have alum block, but those are INDY heads on it, at least in that pic. Maybe they put B-1s on it later and that's just an old pic.

Not sure the KOS pedigree makes it worth more, but what it DOES have going for it is the fact that it appears to be a VERY solid 71 Cuda and has a nice motor. That model Cuda is hard to find and that car could easily be put back if somebody wanted to.

I would like to own it............but 50K.........ouch!

Pretty sure it has ladder bars under it w/ stock frame rails.
50k does seem high, but you couldn't build it for that. I know that doesn't mean a whole lot, but a solid '71 E body is gonna bring good money, then add everything this one has.

My car is built along the lines of the early KOS cars that I fell in love w/ back in the day. This car is/was one of them. Along w/ Mike Daurity, Shelia Bowman, Monte's GTX, the Chapman's Bee, Leon's cuda, Sylvester's Bee, etc. I realize I'm probably near the limit of what I can do w/ what I have safely, but it is what it is.
If I was rich, I'd buy all the old KOS cars, build a big garage, and sit out there and look at em while deciding which one to go drive next, lol. To me they're legit street cars that were violently quick. They didn't seem like race cars built for a specific class.

I am not rich by any means, but that is the reason I bought Mike's old KOS Demon. Didn't have to pay half that initially but a 45 yr old car that was raced 20 yrs ago can be expensive to freshen up and I am still in the process. What does surprise me was that the rear shock and brakes are still current stuff (Koni, Lamb)but like Monte says, the chassis could use some upgrading underneath but it does have some good stuff.

Oh yeah, Mike Robbins' stuff was always nice...as well as a bunch of others who ran the class that I'm forgetting at the moment. I thought long and hard about your Demon when it was for sale a while back. Last time I saw your car was at Rockingham after my buddy Mike Daurity had outrun him...they were ribbing him asking him if he wanted his hemi back? LOL. This was right after he'd sold the yellow hemi road runner and built that B1 Demon. They were pitted right across from each other.

He said there was a guy interested when I saw the ad on EBAY and wanted to see the car... Mike didn't build the Demon but 727buider in Chattanooga said he sold Mike a butterscotch Demon and this car was butterscotch. Hardesty's had Todd Bevis build this Demon in 1996 and they ran it a couple years then sold it to Mike. Todd did a pretty good job IMO, used some nice stuff for back then that is still current except the data system. I think he also built the Road Runner. Car looks great now and getting better each time I get out my wallet. I plan to paint the underside of the fenders and trunk lid (peeling).

The KB/B1 motor was built by Adger Smith in Texarkana, and rebuilt after Mike hurt the crank. I have talked with both of them, as well as Lee Saunders who owned the car a while in between and had the engine gone through down in FL. LOL, he wants it back as a roller so he can put a turbo motor in. I now have the motor at 10-1, same 47 cc B1 heads so huge dish, and ground the cam down to a mild drag race Lunati roller. It's raised cam 48* and I wish I had gotten the other cam Adger had as a core.

When did you see it at Rockingham? Anybody have the history on that Demon from the NOS explosion (2002?) to recent? I have a hunch it sat in Mikes trailer a long time. He got the front fixed pretty well and you can't tell it was blown up except for the front caliper bolts that Roger Lamb said were probably in a fire LOL.

Yep, Mike bought both those cars from the Hardestys didn't he? I believe the road runner was a wedge motor when Jon Hardesty had it, then Mike put the hemi in it.

I think it was 2000 or 2001 when I saw the car at Rockingham. Was at the Mopars at the Rock race running KOS. Had that big B1 nitrous motor in it. It ran good but I think he was having some nitrous issues that weekend. I may have some old camera pics from back then...I'll see if I can dig them out this weekend.

So that was before he blew the hood to smithereens. Funny how he didn't mention that to me when I went to buy the car, but it got fixed real good and looks just like it did back in the day. I even got a KOS front tag with it.

Jamie...I said I'm sure I'm leaving some out, lol. I liked his '71 cuda better than the road runner...sucks he crashed both of em.
Forgot to mention Lenny's black Dart, Mike Gray's cars, Scopa's lime green '70 road runner, Fairchild's cuda, and there was another silver A body cuda I remember seeing at Indy in '97...small block car that was really fast.

My car is a stock suspension version of the old KOS cars I guess you'd say.

You are also forgetting Brian Hicks.........but like me, he ran few KOS races. He mostly ran with the Outlaw Super Stock guys in Chicago and I ran NMCA and the Hot Rod series. Hate to say it, but at the time Brian and myself decided to run some KOS events, we considered it to be pretty "soft" over there. The first KOS race I went to, there had been an ongoing battle between several cars to be the first in the 8s and Brian and myself had already been 8.60s at other events. But after the two of us showed up, several guys really "stepped up" their programs and it got much faster. But on the unfortunate side, many guys also parked their rides instead of trying to really push them.

I remember when Richard O'Malley was pushing to run the KOS cars in a separate eliminator within an NMCA or Hot Rod race, can't remember which. I talked him out of it, because I didn't think it was a good idea. At the time every KOS car would have been NMCA Super Street legal. Problem was, the "hitters" in Super Street were running 8.50s, with a bunch of other guys running .60s and no KOS car had been 8 anything. I just didn't think it was a good look. That's when Hicks and myself decided to go to a KOS race or two and "show" him............LOL!!!

Brian Hicks' challenger is responsible for why I like stockish looking fast cars, I have so many great memories of that car when I was young.
Now I wanna get mine on that level

I did forget about Hicks' challenger, that was/is a BAD ride...he was running 8s at Indy in '97 if I'm not mistaken. Me and my dad went up there for the Nats that year and hung out w/ the Dauritys for a while. Wasn't '97 the first year they allowed nitrous in KOS?
I was there for the first 8 sec pass in KOS...Shelia Bowman vs. Kevin Chapman in Rockingham...both went 8.80s IIRC. Rockingham was always the first KOS race of the season.
Mike Daurity went 8s at Rockingham in '97 too. His first qualifier he went on the bumper, pedaled it, then went back on the bumper. I'll never forget that.

Monte...I remember back in maybe 2000? at the Hot Rod/NMCA powerfest in Rockingham, you were there wrenching on your GTX. I wanted to speak to you, but you were busy so I left you alone. That same race Mike Daurity was there w/ his cuda but he torched a couple pistons. When he took the head off, you could see the wrist pin in one hole. Looked like you could drop a golf ball through the dome and into the oil pan.
