seam sealer, black sound deadener, and spray gun to apply.. - 06/04/15 01:52 PM

Well my convertible is getting closer to getting to the paint stage, and the body shop asked me to go get the above.

Any recommendations? I will be the one applying all the seam sealer on it, they don't want to touch it. We did leave a lot of it in place. I would prefer something that cures fast so it does not hold up painting of the car.

Do all cars get the sound deadener in the rear wheel openings after paint? Mine had it. Would that be the same type spray gun as used in the rear quarters (before paint)?

Thanks!

Is your car a full undercoating car, or just standard undercoating?

Did you take picture of the undercoating spray patterns before you removed? them?

Undercoating after paint.

Seam sealer before paint.

Car was not factory undercoated. It only had stuff in the wheel wells.

Did not take pictures of the seam seal underneath before stripping. crap.

I only took pictures of the sound deadener in the inner quarters.

This is(was) a good thread on seam sealer with pics. But I can't open/see the pics.

same here, a lot of pictures would not open. I am less worried about whats under the carpet, and more worried about the underbody and in the wheel wells, and now I need to see where on the doors it is applied.

Right now, I see oreiley auto parts has 3M brush on sealer that comes in a gallon, I may pick that up atleast, hoping that is correct.

I'm not sure you can see any seam sealer front underneath.

The patterns on Troy's old T/A were notes and pictured and stenciled before disassembly. This was a 30K mile original not rusted not messed with body. Just one car. Lot of variation on this.

Here's a little of rear wheel overspray.

I don't think there's any seam sealer exposed on the outside of the doors.

well I lucked out, I asked around with the chicagoland mopar club, and found an ebody restoration guy from another restoration shop to come by and do my car with seam sealer and the sound deadner in the rear quarters!

Had to do some begging, but I feel a lot more relieved.

one week from being ready for paint!

Are you going to mask the black sound deadner/undercoat in the rear wheel wells when you go to paint?

I thought that was done after paint? I swear when they were using walnut shells to take that out of my wheel wells, there was blue paint under that black stuff.
Confused on question.
