For all those that installed them yourselves - How long did it take? include researching,ordering and unloading material as well as quoting the work, talking to the customer on the phone, unloading and loading the car at the shop, etc.... How much did the equipment cost? Whats the knowledge of installing it correctly worth? Multipy all of this by a shop rate of anywhere from $45.00 - $70.00 an hour.
How much should it cost? Is it cheap?

This is what guys forget...this all takes time that should be paid for by the guy having the work done. imo
Plus in this case, the guy is bringing all his equipment to the OP garage and doing it there.  I'd want some references from the guy, for sure.

my advice is have a pro do it. That price does seem high. I paid around that for a all Moly cage. 12 point, plus forward bars and additional bars in truck. Basically 16 points. A roll bar could save your life, its not an area to cheap out on. Second if you have a back yard roll bar it makes resale tough, and actually de-values a car. A pro built bar will add value. Also a pro can get you much better fitting bar then any kit will.

$2200 sounds pretty steep to me but I've never paid to have my bars put in. I can tell you that we have done 4 sets and they do take time fitting and welding up. We do them at night after work so we only get a few hours a day. With 2 or 3 of us working on them, it still takes us a week to complete. Thats with getting an S&W kit also.

no you don't have to be a certified welder and present the papers to the tech for certification
I am not a cert welder but did it myself and passed cert for 8.50 from the NHRA tech

I am glad it is not up to you. Your attitude is arrogant. One more regulation would take the fun out of the sport for so many! How do you figure that only a few can handle this job? The tech guys that come out and cert my chassis know very well how to spot a bad job. I know you will never concede given your post, but someone wanting to regulate ONE MORE PART OF MY LIFE really P's me off.
Not to fuel the fire...but I agree with greg. Tech guys know what to look for and if it doesn't fly with them they will fail it. Keep on regulating the sport, and watch it die. Come work in the stormwater management field awhile then tell us how many regulations you want

There are plenty of fantastic welders out there that have never been certified, but in saying that there are plenty of people who can't weld to save there lives.
I am one for bending up my own, and have someone TIG weld it. I personally would never buy a Mild Steel caged car unless it was built by a noteworthy Chassis Shop. Go 4130 and TIG welded if your budget allows.

I use to have a aircraft cert.... many years ago... I did it just because I wanted it(never worked in the aircraft field)... its long expired... but I was a fabricator/welder for Chrysler for 35 years.... I wonder if I am worthy  plus I've build a few cars and am doing one now(hope it dont fall apart) specially since its mine

I wish you were closer. I would help you out on the cheap and have you help so you too could do it next time. Have my own bender, notcher, mig and tig welders, and can weld mild steel as well as cm. No I am not a certified welder, but the NHRA tech inspector that certified my car has recommended my work to others. That was a nice feeling in a shop full of cars to be certed. Beep

 I agree BG 2200 smacker for a six point. I will do it for that and supply the CM and bend it too.. 
I agree got a price of $6300 to do my Cuda,but that inclued a 12 point cm cage,shorting my dana,a spool,gear's and axle's.Putting on 2 new 1/4's and trunk floor and front floors.He supply's the tubing.
He did my road runner for $100 a point.I bought a S&W M/S cage
