The gas prices are what they are. There is absolutely nothing we can do about.
Control the things you can control, and don't worry about the things you can't.
But there IS something you can do about it .... just say NO. And just like a couple of years ago ... crude oil prices will tank AGAIN.
CONTROL ? .... please don't be a drone. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pity.gif)

So you think that people stopped using gas/diesel by choice so the price came down?
I don't know ANYONE that could STOP using fuel like that. RESTRICTING usage ? .. yes.
And I am not saying that THIS was the only factor ... but it played a large part in the price reduction.

I think the oil speculaters are a bunch of doomsday naysayers and thrive on the fears of the average American that really does not under stand how it all work's.
I think you're right. Since I've turned off the TV...you know that thing that teaches everyone how they should act, what crap to buy, who they obey, and what bearded fake on VHS they should be afraid of...I've found that I am much happier, have much more money to spend on things I like vs things I am made to feel obligated to buy, and the price of gas really doesnt affect my bottom line at all.
And I feel lovely. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beer.gif)

I believe,,that,, the government lives in their own little world, and we live in the 'real' world. We can vote, we can voice our opinion, we can demonstrate, we can rebel, etc. I don't see anything that I, or anybody I know, has done to make things better. I can't figure out how ANY of the politicians got elected. I realize they got alot of votes to get in,,but, after they are in,,you can't find anybody that will admit to voting for them.?? I am a firm believer, that each person has to take care of themselves..do your normal patriotic duty, as voting, paying taxes, working, trying to do right, take care of your family, believe in and have faith in the Lord, and Pray that all will work out. The "government" is NOT going to correct all the problems the world faces...only God will take care of this turmoil,,one way or another. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Twocents.gif)

I guess I'm in the minority here, because I'm hoping to do MORE racing this year than I have in the last several years. I'm fortunate that I have 5 separate tracks to choose from within approximately a one hour drive. The closest one being 14 miles away. I only went twice last year, and both times I drove the car to and from the track on it's slicks. I finished first in one race, and second place in the other. I lost that one by only .005. The year before last, I was curtailed by hip replacement surgery. I realize that my car is only a low buck small block footbrake car, but in bracket racing it really does not matter. I just had some new slicks mounted on the car last weekend, and I am anxious to try them out later today. I am considering returning to Bristol for the "World Footbrake Challenge" later this year. I need to make up my mind before the price goes up. It will probably depend on if a friend of mine will return there also. Gentlemen, start your engines!!! ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drive.gif)

We have not seen a downturn in race related sales/service,rather the opposite. We are overwhelmed with work at the shop. However we see racers being more selective of what races they will attend and how often they race.Every raceday racers is on the decline because of the increasing cost.Racers are actually spending more upgrading their race cars than racing frequently. The trend is attend more big and Mopar specific race events than to patronize their local tracks. We see attendence dropping and hurting the tracks, that's why they need to put on more specilized events to draw the racers and fans. As anyone can attest that the Mopar specific events certainly can gather a great number of racers and fans like the Mopar Nat's,Mopower,Jeffs,Larrys and now Josh's events.I have said all too many times look at the successfull tracks and you will always find some special event going on,even at small tracks(Beaver Springs). Any one can be successful as long as they are fair, equitable and amicable to the racers and fans. This is how Beaver Bob does it,he makes everyone feel they are at their home track when they attend a race at Beaver Springs. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)

IMO, oil speculating and speculating on some other vital commodities should be against the law.
Totally agree. I think there is a difference between trading comodities and speculating/manipulating prices up & down. GREED with no consideration what this may do to others or our beloved country. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flame.gif) To hurt the economy by doing this is treason in my opinion. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/1343795-scratchchin.gif) I am sure if terrorists have enough money they probably think it's a great way to hurt our country. Akmed: look at those greedy americans destroying their own economy. We couldn't have done it better eh? Don

Yes...I started this thread about racing...Let's keep on topic,please..
Sorry, got on a rant. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/image_294343.gif)
Luckily Rt 66 is only about 15 miles from me. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bump.gif) I plan on 8 races and some T&T there. NMCA @ Rt 66. Monster Mopar is closer now, so I am pencilling that into my schedule. Byron's big bucks bracket bashs are fun and good payouts. Planning on a normal race schedule, unless I get a job that does week ends. Not being too picky about work right now. Have good day, Don

Since I`ve been employed for almost a year now after a year and a half of not being employed my financial situation has greatly improved as I`m working some ot for my racing account. This year my local track cut the end of the year payouts to free entries, last year it paid to the top 5 in each class, this year only the top three get free entries. There are 18 Points Days which is a lot when you consider I`d like to attend more Mopar Races but can`t because of Points. My local track that I`ve been attending for over 25 years is losing its appeal, theres been a divorce and change in track mgmt. and considering the former track manager was a Mopar guy and now he`s gone, 18 points days and little end of year payout its not as appealing. I was contemplating running points at Raceway Park , only 10 Points days and much better end of year payout but I didn`t and now I`m kicking myself. Gas is getting expensive and one of the great things about my local track is that I have had a paid for reserved parking/pit spot for almost 15 years and keep my trailer there as do many other racers so there`s no need to tow back and forth every weekend its only 32 miles but there are a few big hills which really suck the gas up.
