You absolutely can come to a stop on a pass. You need only break the beams. I do this all the time on bye runs. Stage, break beam and back up. I broke a tranny last year and won the round because my guy went red.

I thought there was a rule pertaining to a car being stopped on the track.
I know you are not allowed to come to a complete stop on a pass, but since his car never moved in the first place I don't know.....
You can stop BUT you can NOT exit the car, once you put a foot down your done... I have seen guys take off and forgot to turn on the fuel pump and the car died... they re-fired and took off again... but they lost the round only because they were slow

Also, if you cross the center line or touch the wall, you automatically lose. I still think if the competitor crosses the finish line and you haven't even left yet, you lose. Yes, your car may have died, etc., but thats how it goes.

True on the centerline or the wall... BUT like he said the win light didnt come on for some period of time later and he was still sitting in the beams... the tower hit the button... I'm real sure of that

Then what's to stop someone from dialing up 15 seconds and get there before they leave the starting line and win every time?

In that case, if the person didn't break out, you would never win if he crossed the finish line before you did because you haven't left yet.
Give me a scenario that you are talking about. His dial in, your dial in, etc. I can't see a situation where that would happen.

Say he dials 9.80, my car can run 9.40's. I dial 20.00, I would get there before he left the starting line. What you say I would win even though I broke out because he hasn't left the starting line yet and I have passed it, but broke out. Just like this race. I crossed the finishline before the other car left, so you say I would win.
This other race the racer crossed the finishline first and broke out, his friend didn't get a chance to leave the starting line even though his tree came down but wasn't given a fair chance to restart.

I am in complete agreement with Jacob and for that matter Mr. P-Body as well. Someone hit the switch.

Ah, I see what you are saying....you would intentially break out, which is ok if you want. What I meant was his competitor crossed the finish line and then his tree turned green but he didn't break the start beams within a reasonable amount of time. What that time is, is the key. To me, a few seconds. Sorry, if your motor dies or you have problems, that's your problem.

pretty sure if he would have just started the car and drove down he would have got the win. However if he got out of the car or had help he is DQ'd. I snapped a throttle cable in the final once, guy went 1st and red lighted, my car lunged out and fell flat to an idle. I pulled it to the side poped the hood and rigged it back to the pits, They gave him the win. Dudr told me you know if you would have just let it roll down the track you would have won. I didn't have that kind of time....lol
Your not allowed to get out while on the track... you said it was the finals... I would still be putttting down the track

The dial-in is computed into the equation.

The race is OVER,,,track said 'you lost'..you 'lost'..end of story!! If the shoe had been on the other foot,,,the other racer would have been the one posting..but,,he would have 'lost' too.. I thought I had lost races EVERY way possible,,maybe not!!
