Here's some real world figures

"Back when" my '70 440sixpack RR would get 13.8 mpg, at 70 mph

70 440sixpack RR

"hang on" A/C

Edelbrock dual plane hi rise, Holley 800 DP
Cyclone headers
3.54 Dana
A833, and no, overdrive had not been invented yet
G60X15 tires

There was no "lightfoot" driving going on, either. When I got on the freeway, I didn't go puttin out there at 35 at the end of the ramp. Cruise control? an insult.

i have the original TQ that came off the engine. i'm going to throw it on there today and see what happens. how rebuildable are they. i have heard they have issues with the body warping.

just another PIG-FAT Berri crab issue ...

Get a good TQ and proper intake .... and you could probably TRIPLE that mpg !

(1) Doc whats that? (2) Correct, a Demonsizzler prepped TQ would b the way to go

Demonsizzler isn't doing the carbs anymore.

I was taking a break from carb work; my allergies have been so bad!

As for 'removal' of the vent stacks, I have been doing this for 25 yrs and it does work. If you run a drop-base air cleaner, it is necessary on T.Q.'S to shorten the stack if not remove it. Several carb builders remove the vent stack also. On a T.Q., it works well as there is little or no chance the gas can flow out of the vent due to a well designed vent system coming off the float chambers.

Well it's good to hear you were taking a break and not quitting, from the reply in the other it sounded like you were all done.

Just as rebuild-able as any other carb. The upper rear corners of the bowl will sag so that can be a problem on some. Sight down each side lengthwise of the top of the bowl and you will know if the bowl is warped.

T.Q's are hard to beat on performance and gas mileage!
