Looks great in there, a fantastic engine bay, let's get you closer to initial fire-up on your sweet motor. Nice carb! Who did the carb restoration? I have a guess.

'The black wire with the female spade connector from the distributor vacuum chamber connects to that male spade connector.'

I agree with Randy - these wires appear long enough to reach each other to confirm all else. The ground wires - I circled those two in red.

'The blue wire with the male bullet connector from the vacuum chamber connects to the female bullet connector next to the idle solenoid...'

Randy, its the blue wires that are not right yet.

Its the two blue wires that appear they are not long enough to reach one another. Specifically, the blue wire in the engine harness looks too far away to connect it to the blue wire on the vac advance. Maybe there was an appropriate factory extension wire that connects these two wires?

A question for Randy, the blue wire at the carb solenoid with the female bullet connector should terminate at the #1 splice, correct? Or does it terminate at the alternator, I'd have to check mine later to verify.

In the last pic Randy - you can see that the carb solenoid does have its blue wire connected correctly.

So can I ask, what do you have the other end of the blue wire connected to, circled in lime green in the same pic?

In the pic in that same area it appears you have an extra pair of blue wires?

IIRC - the noise suppressor connects to neg.

***Those were the two wires i had a problems with since i had no where to put them. I came up with an idea that might work. I disconnected the blue wire on the field connection on the alternator and plugged it into the male spade connector on the sol. harness. I then plugged the only wire left to the field connection so everything is hooked up. The engine harness field connection is now run through the solenoid harness and still has a connection with the alternator as well. Its all the same gauge wire so there should not be any problems. Let me know if this sounds good. Thats the only sense I could make of the service manual schematic which shows the carb solenoid connecting to F on the alternator. No wonder why you never see these damn things on peoples cars. So much for going the stock route< LOL

To answer your question about the carb restoration, Scott Smith at Harms Auto did the fantastic job on the 4737s.

That Scott restored your carb doesn't surprise me and he was my guess, have seen pics of his work and your's looks like perfection.

I'll look over your latest re-wiring post some more, as long as the two blacks are connected - your post states the blue wires are also done correctly now...

From my memory the dist solenoid just retards the timing some at base idle. Ron

Yes, the control module on the distributor is nothing more than a voltage limiting device.
