What are the specs on the motor and car?

'73 Challenger w/ 440, auto w/ 4200-stall converter, 4.10s, and the chassis is set up w/ emphasis on drag strip performance (not street handling).

I've had motors that throw the belts off It is usually belt and pulley alignment issues that cause it Once the belt comes off it will always come of at or above the RPM it came off at the first time, time to go buy a new belt I have been told on this site(unlawful racing) that the gatorback belts stay on better, I have several of them for different motors

My .030 over 440 makes 643HP at 6300RPMs and 592lbs of torque at 4400RPMs.

Can I see the details of your combination? And do you have any ET & MPH results from track to go along with it? Thanks!

Sure here is the combo.

.030 over 440
bushed lifter bores
11.1 CR
Comp solid roller cam 248-254@.050, .622-.612 with 1.6 rockers
all the bearings coated.
MW ported SR heads
Ported indy DP intake, Pro-Systems carb
Lots of engine coatings- inside and out outside of the intake, tops of the pistons, sides of pistons, intake ports exhaust ports.
Do all those coating help make HP? who knows, the motor does rev quick thow.
Bud Yancer did the machine work and Sheldon Gecker bolted it together.
No I have not had it to the track, as I said it keeps throwing the alternator belts. I need to come up with some kind of idler pulley for the belts.

Also the pistons are five out of the hole with a .039 head gasket.

What kind of modifications you have done to the body to handle all that massive power? E-body vert's chassis is not a very rigid one when stock

I can save you a lot of "trial & error" money by putting you in this ride. Very streetable, doesn't over heat (even without a water pump fan) will smoke the tires, will scare your wife, oops I mean won't scare your wife, gets fairly decent gas mileage as long as you don't put your foot in it too often, turns heads wherever it goes and isn't too loud at lower speeds. I've driven it over 1500 miles since the build and it is fun to drive. Down side: it's only 511 h.p. with 502 ft. lbs. of torque but I couldn't imagine needing anything more. It's never been down the 1320 and won't as long as I own it. The underside of the car is almost as nice as the topside.

You all have me frightened now. my street build will be around 1,500hp/1,100 ftlbs. but power climbs higher in the rpm range ~650hp@4,500 climbs from there
6spd manual should keep rpms down on cruise.

It seems some people are very concerned that these 650hp+ rides are up to snuff in terms of handling all that power. Not knocking anyone who wants to put in a cage, new rear (dana), 4 wheel discs, etc., before adding the power, but sometimes its not necessary. I know of a few people that have cars with big power engines that will probably never race them, ever. They like having the power to blaze the tires at will and the intimidation factor at the cruise ins. Don't get me wrong, I like to race my cars, but not everybody does...and big power is not so hard on parts when you're just smoking tires and doing roll-ons at 30mph.

I agree....I will never understand how someone can build a car with a lot of power and not want to race it. Just seems pointless.

By the way, drag radials don't usually work well with 4-speed cars. Slicks work much better.

Ryan J got me 660 out of my small block and now with a vac pump and different intake I'll have more yet. Mine is a 4 spd street car and makes a pass for roughly every 10 miles of cruising it does. The smile on my face is permanently engrained- the power on hand is AWESOME- the throttle response is AWESOME. I can instantly destroy my street tires at will to the top of third gear but the tradeoff is now having to upgrade everything around it to survive if you plan on using the power with traction. It's a expensive tradeoff but I can't imagine going back to having less power. I wouldn't ever consider opening this thing up in town though- it's WAAAYYY to violent, things happen WAAAYYY to fast and it's WAAAYYY too much fun.

I have a 72 cuda with 528 indy aluminum block, roller cam and lifters, 1050 holley dominator, 5 speed, 430 rears, 10.75 cr, power steering frame connectors tubular front end with coil overs and rack & pinion. It is fun to drive on the street with the hydraulic clutch. 65MPH on the interstate at 2500 rpms. You can even hear the radio pretty good also because i put stick on sound deadner on the entire inside before i put it back together. Not a race car and the guy is right about not enough tire to begin to hold it down. 700+ HP. Love the beefy idle and the sound when you touch the pedal. It is more fun to drive that the 408 stroker i had in it before.

Someday I would like to run the car.
The subframe is tided together and it has SS springs. Iam using a A-1 8 inch conveter, low first gear set in the trans and a 3.55 rearend gear.
One of the reasons the belts are flying off is the belts are very long, it is a factory AC car.

My '71 383 factory A/C car would throw the belts at 6,000 RPM. I tried several brands of belts and align the pulleys and nothing worked. I did read that the original belts were 11/32" wide? and all the replacements are 3/8" wide, so they ride up higher in the pulleys. I bought a March underdrive pulley set and have not thrown any belts since, but the underdrive ratio slows the alternator down so much it does not charge unless the engine is at 1,200+ RPM.

I'm confused. Define "Street. Then there is Street-Trim.
And that is Code for...

Is that from the trailer to the street?

That one is a 484 Hemi making well over 700hp...And there is a trailor at that show because it was March in Buffalo, and there was a ton of snow that year. The vid of it idling inside there at that indoor show, the car was ice cold, fired right up, and idled perfectly. None of the other cars in that show would even run....EFI is a beautiful thing.
