2292 is a sealed power piston for a 1970 440. Should be the same as TRW 2266.

If it is I'd sell them to someone who wants to run a blower...

C/H 1.991 around 8.5 c/r

Excellent example of much needed information obtained! Moparts is better than a dang library sometimes.(Even with members that are in a pre annoyed and ready to pounce state)

Keep old mopars alive.

The 1.991 piston is not that bad as long as you pay attention to the build details. CR in the low to mid 9s is easy. Quench, well, that's another story.

Thanks guys Thats what I was looking for. So it sounds like they are 8.5 to 9 comp. I believe the 906 heads for motor have been shaved but not sure how much yet? Maybe this well help my low compression prob. I was hoping to do 9.5 to 10.5 ball park? Any input? This is in a 70 440 hp stk crank bored 30 over using a # 3 grind mr 6pk cam & 6 pk carbs. I may change pistons .
thanks again

A CR between 9 and 9.5 should be about right with iron heads. I wouldn't go higher than 9.5.

Stock factory list compression for the 70 440hp was 10:5:1 I believe. But I am good with at least 9:5 with the price of fuel:

70' 440hp was listed as 10:1, 440-6 pack was listed as 10.5:1. If those pistons are the same as L2266 you won't have 9.5:1 compression unless you use closed chamber heads.

Mike I have a set of these TRW 2266 flat tops.
They are .030 over very low miles.
I sold Wild Bill the crank and have no use
for them. I had them in a 440 with 906 heads and a .484 cam, it ran great.

the mystery has already been solved; 2292 is a Sealed Power number NOT a TRW number. As Johnrr opined, the OP was mistaken about them being TRW pistons and some knowledgable Moparts members recogized the number as a SP 440 piston.......nothing else to see here!

It's up to you, but personally I would change pistons. My 440-6 is running the same cam but I am at close to 11:1.....it runs on 94 octane pump gas, but I expect that it'll need a race fuel mix to get the timing right for the track.....we'll see. I just couldn't live with low 9's or less for compression.
