IMO Hoosiers are a Walmart type slick. Soft compound which works fantastic for about 38-40 passes and then little by little 60 foots go away. I believe the sidewall breaks down 1st and then its shot.
Mickey Thompsons and Phoenix seem to last the longest. But what do I know. I only 60 foot 1.21

First off congrats on the new bests. Alwasy good to run a new best on the car. We did the same yesterday, a new best with the stop bolted on the car running it all out. The stop slows the car .2-.25.

I think someone needs to attend a Div or National event and take a look in the Super Class staging lanes. I would say you will find a very large percentage of those cars running Hoosiers. We care more about 60' consistency than most racers do. FWIW I put 120+- passes a year on my junk. But what do I know I only 60' 1.15

In the end it boils down to your particualr combination. I have run Goodyear and M/T on the Cuda. They both have thier pros and cons. What tire is right for YOUR car depends on a lot of factors. I am using M/T 33x15 SS tires currently. They have a bit more roll out than I like but so far so good. Been very consistent especially on the stop. Previously I ran Goodyears for a couple of years and other than my turd of a car beating up the sidewalls they worked fine. BTW on ANY drag tire the sidewalls will go away before the tread wear dots do...

I see that this post was about Hoosiers, Alguire I see in your response that you in no way expressed that you run Hoosiers, What's up with that or are you just
I have used them for many years only realizing that when I changed to a M/T I was able to consistently run the same 60 foot.
Also I was able to get a hole season out of my M/T with over 250 passes. Not the case with Hoosiers.
If I wwas Mr. Moneybags I probably would run Hoosiers as their hook was incredible for the 1st 35 passes then they were hit or miss.

We 60ft a 1.16 with 32x14 Hoosiers and put around 100-150 passes a year on them. They ALWAYS last us a couple years. I think you got a bad pair or you are doing 5min burnouts....

I run a small tire 29.5-10.5 non W
The hoosier go away for me very fast and no 5 minute burnout. Just see a little smoke and I'm off.

I guess everyone's different.

i like the Hooiser Radials, and YES you have to watch your burnouts because they will be no more wear holes in no time if you are not careful..LOL They practically need little or NO burnout to work

Over the last few years I have run Hoosiers, Phoenix, Goodyear and MT. Also ran BFG and MT radials. I do have more than one car ya know Just one Mopar. Just pointing out as that blanket statements usually dont work out to well. What tire works on what car is dependent on the car, combo and set up. Also hopefully you caught the hint of sarcasm there, maybe not

BTW the MT's are on the car becuase they were FREE!!

I tried a set of Hoosier stiff sidewalls on my car last year and in the heat on a slick tack I could not get the car to repeat the 60 for nothing.

Good ol Mickey Thompsons always seem to work the best in spring, summer, fall conditions for me.

They dont last long. 38-40 passes with a small burnout. After that the 60 foot goes away.

Hoosier themselves told me the radials would go away pretty quick, so for my application where ultimate ET isn't what I was looking for the stiff sidewalls would be best and last quite a while. So we'll just have to see. If they don't last, I'll report that too....

Did you use the tube reccomended? I use Hoosier tires as shown in your link. I buy them through a local Hoosier distibutor. I asked them about tubes after looking at Jeg's/Summit's ads. I asked the rep about tubes. He said "You don't need tubes with our tires". I asked about Jeg's/Summit's reccomendations...his response, "They like to sell tubes, more money!" Also, they were cheaper than Jeg's/Summit.

If you like drag racing, support your local track.

The slicks I went to were 1-lb heavier than the old ones...but the tubes I took out were a little over 10 lbs for both. Slicks have held air all winter. FWIW

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

For me I like to use tubes... I get a bit more life
out of the side walls... I tried the stiff sidewalls
once but it really hurt my 60'... they are more based
on a heavier car... JMO

Hoosier radials worked well for 25 runs then they would go away. I tried three sets, same thing every time.

I used Hoosier radials for years, loved them, they not only improved my 60' but on my car they are worth at least a tenth on the big end. However, I agree that after 35 or so passes they were junk, so I moved on to Phoenix, I just can't afford the constant replacement of new Hoosiers, you actually need 2 new sets a year. I talked to them about it at a trade show, and they really didn't care and did not have an answer how you can get more life out of them. HEMI JOE

Race tires are like any other performance suspension part... they are effected by the chassis tune. I have always had good luck and gotten more than my $$$ worth from Hoosier compared to other brands... My chassis tune simply matches their design characteristics best.

Since were talkin Hoosier. Last season I used Goodyear 16x32 tires it's what the roller came with. Been thinking of changing to the Hoosier 14.5X32W. Both are of a stiff sidewall design (Probably don't need stiff @2700 race weight)but I wonder if the sidewall and compound may be a little softer on the Hoosier??? Care to compare??
