He knew when he decided to sell all the cars he had collected for the proposed museum in the little no name town in Nevada, that he would lose lots of $$$$ and didn't care, he wanted to move on. I agree it's nutz to loose 1 Mil on 1 car but thats what happened.

he probably made enough off the others to make up for the million dollar hit , plus if it wasn't that big a deal he had his car collection set up as a business and the million dollar hit offset gains on his tax return .
