Hello,
I'm trying to track down a rebuild kit for my Holley 440 Six-Pack setup. As I understand it, these are 2300 Series Carbs.

I am seeing different types of Rebuild Kits at different online sites. Holley seems to offer a "Fast" and a "Renew" kit. Any idea which one I should be looking for?

Also, on Mancini's site - the Six-Pack kit is listed as # 3-396. But on Summit, it shows that part# as a Marine Carb ? At Summit, it looks like it's a 3-397 ....

Uggh! I'm confused! Has anyone bought a 440-6 rebuild kit lately and could provide the correct part # and/or web site link to the one that worked for them?

And are these the same part # for center and outboard carbs? So, I would just need to purchase 3 kits, right?

Also, do these kits contain the Carb-to-Manifold mounting Gasket? If not, is that one special for the Six-Pack or do I just buy 3 standard Holley 2-bbl gaskets?

Thanks a lot as usual!!!!

The correct part number is 3-396.
Try googling "Holley 3-396" and look around for the lowest price.
I can't remember where I got my last set (you need one kit for each of the three carbs, by the way. The kit isn't for the whole six pack) but you will probably find the best prices on Jegs or some other big scale retailer.

Ok, thanks a lot for the info. I see them at Jegs now.

Funny though, that part # shows up as a "Holley Marine Renew Kit" ... Maybe the six-pack carbs Chrysler used were originally meant for a boat??

Does anyone know if the carb-to-manifold mounting gasket is included in the kit? Also, whether both outboard and center carbs use the same mounting gasket? I didn't see these gaskets at either Summit or Jegs in my recent search.

Thanks a lot!!

In the Holley renew kit, it does come with the gaskets and they are the same. You might try calling www.promaxcarbs.com/ They sell everything for sixpacks.

One more (I think?) question on this topic...

I found the Holley "Power valve blowout protection" kit (part #125-500 in case anyone needs one). I plan to put this in during the rebuild to prevent any future blowouts.

Having not taken apart these carbs before -- Do all 3 Carbs (outboards and center) have Power Valves in them or is this something unique to the Center only?

And would all 3 need this Protection kit? Or do the backfires that cause the blowout only occur on the Center carb?

Thanks again!

Only the center carb. has a power valve. If the carbs. are new, I thought that the center carb. had the power valve protection kit? I might be wrong. Call Promax Carbs. and ask them.

Ok, great info. Thanks much again! I'll give the Promax guys a call for the new kits. I'm not sure how old these carbs are... they don't look too bad, but could have been cleaned up. Maybe I already have the protector kit in there....

Thanks again!

Go on e-bay. Type in six pack carbs under parts accessories in the ebay motors section. Scroll down until you see six pack carbs by thepartsladi. Click on her other auction site. She sells genuine Holley 396 kits, 3 for $75 and I have yet to beat that price. Lee.

Depending on your experience and what you want to do with these carbs, you may want to consider shipping them to Promax or Harms. The cost difference may be worth it to you in the long run, as there are some issues that one needs to be aware of when rebuilding and tuning them. They are both experts.

Ok, thanks for the info on this option as well.

If a set of carbs is shipped out by mail and rebuilt like that, is the re-builder able to do some sort of a "bench tune" of them without them being on the car?

I'm trying to gauge how much tuning/tweaking work would need to be done once I would get back the rebuilt carbs and bolt them on? This would be for a stock setup.

Thanks!

I had Promax go through mine and do some additional modifications. Then they run them on a test motor to tune them in. Just explain your set-up to them, and they will give you some options. I think Ben is the guy I worked with. Mine came out great. I credit some of their modifications for helping my motor churn out 682 hp at 5500 rpm. Good stuff at Promax!!!
