Now THAT'S tech - best read in a long time. The Mopar rags could take a huge lesson from this thread. Thank you, Dwayne!

I'll take a s.w.a.g. and say it's comparable to a mortgage payment for a lot of people.

i dont want to comment on prices cause this is mr. porter's post,, but its something you fight with when guys want to redo factory heads,, there is no cheap way around it..

clean heads
new guides
hard exh seats
valve job
deck
bowl port and int openings
deck to a cc number or just clean up
cut for seals/springs
assemble

new valves
new springs
cups/locators
locks
retainers

Yes , I had a set of 906's done last year , STOCK rebuild though , no porting allowed in the class they were built to run.

Mr. Porter should post the amount of time he has in those, as well as the final tally on the bill, to reinforce the fact, that unless you are doing a resto type deal, aftermarket heads, are just better, as well as cheaper in the long run.

Monte

I was thinking the same thing as I was reading his post. I have 5 sets of these heads, so I would like to see the tally.

Nice new aftermarket heads are a easy way to more power but it is hard to beat the feeling you get and the look on someones face with all the new right parts that you just put on the trailer with your old stock iorn heads.............

PRICELESS.......................

Thanks Dwayne , I miss your informative posts. When I first came to Moparts guys like you, RyanJ, Dan and several others always had some cool tech posts going. Not so much anymore, sad.

Do you really think, the average guy, or even most Mopar guys are going to notice if you have iron J heads. or iron RHS heads....not likely.

I am not knocking anything Dwayne has done here. He does fantastic work, but he is also showing how much work, it takes to PROPERLY repair a set of used up factory heads, which most are. Only trying to point out, that unless it is a resto, or you just MUST have factory iron, there are lots better and cheaper ways to go.

Not trying to be a smart A$$ but didn't he say this in the first two sentences of the thread, and the actual point of this thread? So I'm not totally understanding these type of replies.
Please enlighten us a little how his is contributing?
