You guys are making me feel bad. (Tortoise)

My 10.0 pass ended up being slower. LOL

60' 1.73, 1/8 6.92, 1/4 10.61 @ 133.85

I'm WAY far away from that 10.0 with some issues with my 60' number. (4,200 lbs spinning) Even if I did get it to dead hook, it would probably only go 10.30s at 130 mph.

I am D on that list just for an odd comparison

Them S/ST,S/G and S/C guy's are gonna be when they find out all the "Big $$$" they spend on them "Big Engines" to run that "Big MPH" is not going to "HELP THEM" I'll have to also disagree on the "Dead Heat" (no disrespect to anyone). I have not seen a "Dead Heat" since they went to the Christmas Tree and the electronic timing system.

PS I do find this very interesting.Being a Bracket Racer I try to read and learn any and everything I can to get an advantage.

Why is it that you can do a really good trap speed when you do a bad start, slow et or spin the tyres?

Sometimes my best times have slower trap speeds than when I have a bad run or spin the tyres & I don't understand why.

This might be over simplification, but this is how I think of it. For the same car, power etc, if you run a slower ET (spin), then the car has more time to accelerate (with the same hp = same acceleration rate), therefore time x acceleration rate = speed (mph)

Yep... plus the car is playing with a taller tire
(spinning) to give the MPH, which is giving a lesser
gear ratio(4.10 VS 4.30 ... just numbers)

All you have to do is sit down and watch(I know boring)any .90 class and see this applied. Cars are generally right at the .90 number of thier choosing but the MPH can vary widely. I know in S/ST I have run in an event where one car was runing 113 and one was running 160, that is quite a spread...But both go 10.90. Have also seen a S/G race with one car going 117 and one going 182, yet both ran 9.90.

As Monte pointed out MPH is an idication of HP. ET is an indication of how well one can apply the power they have. Look no farther than Stock and Super Stock to see cars that run well below what most think is capable for the power they make. Sit at the far end and see how many of those cars are done at 1000'...
