Yes, Brian mentioned that to me before, to avoid excess oil flow, not direct to oil galley opening. Which doesn't matter if the block is bushed.
This old pic from Brian must have been a prototype, because yours looks like it has a taller section above the cutout?

Allen, Did your factory low deck block have these casting bumps under the intake ports? I can't see behind the pushrods in your picture? It could just be close due to manufacturing tolerances.

My low deck (400) Indy Maxx with offset lifters required block clearance. There was also a problem with the FelPro 1039 gasket interfering with the pushrod.

I use standard roller lifters on my low deck with -1 heads and a 706/661 lift roller, Harland 1.5 rockers.
1970 Challenger, all aluminum 528 Hemi, HDK suspension, Tremec 5 speed manual
