I'm pretty sure I have some pictures taken at LVD in NY at a divisional meet. Not the red one though. I'll see if I can find them.

POst them if you got them. I remember he was partnered up with a Weber, was he a SBM guy as well?

Dave Weber was the engine guy. He then worked for Arrington Engines for several years and now has his own shop again. Here is his site:http://www.modernmuscle.biz/. I'll have to scan the pictures I have. The engine bay ones are good while some of the others are long distance shots.

Both those cars were built for Comp specifically. Not the old PS cars. Bought them both brand new from Jerry's shop. Here is the only engine shot I can find. I know I have some from dyno sessions but heck if I know where they went to. Hard to believe it was 20 years ago.

How fast were they running back then with that W5 setup?

That history is pretty cool...

Wow thats a thin motor plate. Did rules allow multiple carbs? or is that a single under there? Hard to believe it really was that long ago.

Ladder bars were gone by the mid-late '70s. Don Hardy (Glidden) built cars were probaly the last to use them.
Ness (WJ) and SRD (Grumpy J) built cars had some 3-link set ups before 4-link became the norm.

Those Daytonas were very light. Had a lot of titanium. Even the 4 link bars were. They ran A/EA in comp and had to run a single 850 carb. Don't remember the W5 heads but the W7's were running in the 7.60's.

If I remember correctly the record was 7.77@177ish. Set it at Maple Grove. I think. The rules state a single 850 for A/EA. Pretty much stock outward appearance, choke horn ect, but internal mods were allowed but no increase in venturi or throttle bore. Throttle blades were measured and then shaft for a combined thickness. We were off by a few thou so we took a pop can and cut some shims from it and sandwiched them between blades and the shaft and passed tech. Oh the fun of it all.

... i don't think Rick owns them both now, he may have at 1 time but not now. i know this because my car is sitting in the same garage as this car, which belongs to my bro Cecil Stanford..Cecil and his brother Rodney bought this car off of Mike Shaffer(SP) who i believe bought it off of Rick Allision. i'm not even gonna pretend that i know very much of the history about this car, but Cecil has talked to Jerry Haas about the car and was told that this build tag meant it was built for Ritter&Weber..hence the RW(Ritter-Weber)on the tag. Cecil also tells me that Haas told him in a phone conversation, that to the best of his(Haas)memory that there were 4 cars built. 2-P/S and 2-S/C cars. the P/S car tag would of had WC(Wayne County).

Is that without driver or with driver weights?

Very good possibility that motor there is JR/Jackie Hick's 394" Just looking @ a few things about it, I'm fairly certain that is the motor they now have in their Daytona.

None of the Daytona motors had W5 or W7 heads on them even though it said so on the scoop, as is obvious in all the pics, those are all Arrington heads. The motor in the Black & white car looks to be Hick's 394, & the top end in the other pics in the Red car with more square runners on the intake looks to be the intake/heads 340Rick had on his car for a short time.

Another thing is the Arrington heads are not all the same. The set I sold to Ryan are completely different than the set a buddy of mine has where Dave Weber built the motor and Vignona owned it. The motor was nick named the mule. Made a lot of power over my Arrington headed motor.
