Does Mopar use the "drive by wire" system to replace the throttle linkage on newer cars? If so, when did they start using this system?
There is no wire! It is electronic, like the remote control for your TV.

I have a custom 93 tune on my magnum, while it does add a bunch of power, the delay is still there. It's the worst at the track, I have yet to figure it out to cut a decent light. I pretty much have to leave on the 2nd yellow for the car to go by the green.

I hate it in my wifes 05' Jeep G.C. with a 5.7L HEMI. Not used to move your foot & nothing happens for a second or so. Also at times lurches forward like you almost floor it but actually do not. Luckily this only happens once in a great while. Wifes says it has never happened to her so it must be me pushing to hard at first because of no reaction of the vehicle.

Would it be correct to guess that all of the late model Chrysler 300's and Chargers have this "drive by wire" system then?

'06 SRT8 Charger here, and I don't like the so called drive by wire either. Sometimes you feel like a new driver when accelerating. It makes you appear you have never driven before. I find it is easiest to just floor it
Facts are stubborn things.

Electric/ hydraulic/ air/ other BOOSTED steering is not the same as "steer by wire."
Are any of these you mentioned ACTUALLY purely "steer by wire?" Frankly, I doubt it. I saw at least one hit "BMW forgoes steer by wire."
IF THIS IS TRUE we need to be rioting in the streets. This will do two major things: make cars incredibly expensive, and incredibly unsafe. (What's going to happen when something happens and ALL electric power is lost?) (Hint---remove the battery or unplug your mouse, move it around, and see what happens.) No......THANKS

I'll second that with an 09 Challenger 6 speed. User "Devil" on here has a fix.

The city gives me a Prius to drive. It does have electric power steering boost but still has a mechanical linkage to actually steer with. They had to do this since the engine is not always running to provide assist. Craig
