A boat, a GMC truck, some Craftsman Tools, LOTS of Zombie Protection, and a few Goldfish.. If you love someone set them free.. If they come back it means nobody else wanted them either..!!

Was there ever a part # for a fender for a radio delete car? Like an AAR Cuda RF fender? How about the RR 1/4 for an AAR or a T/A? Were the holes cut at the factory, or did they stamp special 1/4's? MO_PA top fuel M Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 1,791 Big Sky Country	I worked for a Chrysler Dealer while I was in high school during the mid to late 50's, most or all cars came without an antenna mounted in the fender even if they came with a radio. The antenna with a mounting template was in the trunk of the car. We drilled the fender and mounted the antenna on those new cars. Idea behind it was that cars coming to the dealer with an antenna would be vandalized and the antenna broken off while in transit.

It has what appears to be a factory antenna. It doesn't appear that the fender was ever changed. I have always wondered what's up with that?

max super gas M Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 2,648 USA	This is sorta of a brand "X" story but my parents bought a new 1983 Olds Delta 88 and my father ordered the car with out a radio so he could put his own brand in it. That car didn't have anything for a radio, the fender wasn't drilled and none of the wiring was in the car or any speakers. Needless to say it was a pain to put a radio in and my mother nearly had a heart attack watching my father drill a hole in the fender for the antenna. So knowing that 1983 didn't come with anything I could see the older stuff not having it as well.

Mr T2U master M Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 4,924 new berlin wisconsin	i started working in a plymouth dealer body shop in 77 at the age of 14 1/5 so my memory may not be perfect. when you got a new fender from chrysler almost none of them were drilled for antennas. there were markings on the back of the fender but there were no holes. i have replaced several 68- 70 b body 70-74 E bodies, 68-76 a bodies. some volare fenders started to have holes in them almost all of the horizons. if i remember correctly if you ordered a volare without a antenna there was a plug in the hole. i know horizons without radios had plugs in the hole also. perception is 90% of reality

The hole in the fender appeared to be original since there was an additional notch to prevent the bezel from spinning. The original paint was still on the car when I bought it in '84 but had an aftermarket antenna mast installed. So I think all the '73 A-body fenders were stamped regardless of radio or not.

My 500 had its antenna mounted on the quarter round hole with little notch in it . When I restored the 500, the pass side fender also had a hole with notch but there was a plug that was almost punched out but still connected next to the little notch. looks like the plug was then leaded in.

On a few original window stickers I have seen from 70-73 A bodies, even if it had a radio, it was not coded there on the window sticker. My '78 D150 didn't come with an radio or an antenna. Someone added an aftermarket and put the antenna on the windshield pillar. No hole in the fender. My '64 Dodge wagon did not come from the factory with a radio but the dealer installed one when new. It's go the correct AM radio and speaker and antenna but they put the antenna on the driver's side fender. No hole in the passenger fender. Maybe the Coronet with rear mounted antenna was a dealer installed setup as well.

LimeliteAero master L Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 6,585 SE Pa.	My GTX had the antenna hole drilled way out of proper position. I could barely reach it to get the base out of the fender while I was working on it. I have no idea if the fender was ever replaced or not.
